Francis Michael Trombetta was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Stella and Frank Trombetta. Frank was the middle child between his two sisters, Jean and Madeline. As a kid, he loved stickball, building soapbox scooters, washing cars, penny pitching, and of course, the Brooklyn Dodgers. He would talk about hopping on the back of a truck to hitch a ride to Ebbets Field with his best pal, Artie. His biggest childhood thrill was appearing on Happy Felton’s Knothole Gang alongside his idols. As a teen, he was eager to get to work so he attended Manual Training High School. He served in the US Army and worked at RCA before marrying his childhood crush, Mary Ann Vigilante, in 1965. Three years later they made their home on Staten Island where they lovingly raised their children.
Frank was very handy and talented and started a construction business. He was hard-working and loved to get his hands dirty. He appreciated all forms of architectural styles and the fine details of woodworking. His three sons later joined the family business and they became Frank Trombetta and Sons. Many family and friends also worked with Frank over the years and he loved it.
.
Frank enjoyed being surrounded by his grandchildren, gardening, listening to music, watching sports, dancing, and dining out, especially at La Polina. Most importantly he appreciated time spent with his family and friends. You could always expect him to hand you a cold drink or something to eat. He made everyone feel at home. Whether on Staten Island or in Belmar, he was happiest with a houseful of people.
Frank is survived by his beautiful wife Mary Ann, his children Peter and his wife Gracemarie, Frankie and his wife Annmarie, Michael and his wife Tara, and Jenna and her husband Vincent. Frank and Mary Ann also lovingly raised Peter Taddeo. His role as a father figure extended beyond his children to his many nieces and nephews whom he cherished. He also has six grandchildren Vincent. Luci, Nicholas, Alice, Marianne and “Buddy” who have been blessed with Frank’s life lessons, boundless love and affection.
