Mr. Delmar was a lifelong resident of Midland Beach until he was displaced by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. He then went to live in Dongan Hills.
He graduated from McKee High School.
Mr. Delmar worked as a machinist for more than 30 years. He retired in 2011, from All Mechanical Services in Perth Amboy, N.J.
He enjoyed coin collecting and spending time with his dog, Molly.
Mr. Delmar served in the U.S. Army and saw duty in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of SP4.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Gallagher.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary's R.C. Church, Midland Beach. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery.
