

George W. Fisher Jr., a lifelong resident of Staten Island, New York, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on November 7, 1943, George was raised in Port Richmond and spent his entire life on Staten Island. He attended P.S. 20 and graduated from Port Richmond High School.
George was an auto mechanic who began working on cars as a teenager. Known for his willingness to help, he often assisted family and friends with diagnosing and fixing car problems. He worked for Amtrak as a fireman, traveling along the east coast rails. In 1965, George enlisted with the Army National Guard's 10th Mountain Division, serving during the Vietnam War. He later became a mechanical technician at the popular Victory Lanes, where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement in 2004.
George was predeceased by his parents, George and Dolores, his sister Florence, and nephew Gregory. He was devoted to the care and well-being of his parents, especially in their later years. He is survived by his brother Walter and sister-in-law Joyce, his sister Edna, his nephew Walter Jr. and his wife Kim, his niece Deseree, and numerous great and great-grand nephews and niece.
George had a passion for playing pool and watching billiard tournaments. He enjoyed horse racing, particularly handicapping horses. He enjoyed his daily visits and hanging out with everyone at Fisher Fence often offering his unsolicited but welcome advice and supervision.
George was kindhearted and generous and will be deeply missed by his entire family.
A private committal service with military honors was held at Fairview Cemetery, Staten Island N.Y. on November 7, 2025.
