

George A. Karidis beloved husband, father, pappou, brother and dedicated friend born February 19, 1951 in Queens, NY, to the late Angelo and Maria Karidis of Korinthos and Sifnos, Greece. George passed away at home on May 10, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 74.
He grew up with his twin brother Vlasios, as well as his brother John and sister Barbara on the lower east side of Manhattan. St.Barbaras Greek Orthodox Church was his second home growing up, and was very proud of it. George moved to Grant City, Staten Island in 1976.
Graduated from Staten Island community college in 1973.
George worked for Con Edison as a designer engineer for 34 Years before retiring in 2007. He was known as “THE GREEK” and was very proud of that title.
He also worked nights at the Unicorn Diner and Colonnade Diner.
A dedicated member of Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was on the parish council as the 1st Vice President, Chairman of the Greek Parade for over 25 years, festival coordinator, Sunday school teacher and soccer coach all in his spare time. In addition to always washing his cars and making sure the grass was always cut perfect.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Panagiota; daughters Effie Trepel(Keith), Maria Baggs(Richie) and Stephanie Fraschilla(Andrew); 7 grandchildren Eleni and Paige Trepel, Abigail, Grace and Jake Baggs, Emma and Alexandra Fraschilla.
Family and friends loved all the pictures he would send them everyday reminding them of all the great memories he had of them.
George loved vacationing in Greece every summer with his wife. They enjoyed the relaxation of the beach and spending time with family.
George will be remembered for his kind, friendly and outgoing personality, his love for his family and community.
George was always helping out those in need. His amazing love, warmth, caring, and support will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and he will live in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in George’s name and memory to the Holy Trinity-St.Nicholas Ladies Philoptochos Society, where he was known as Mr. Philoptochos.
