

George William Stone Jr., a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved member of the Brooklyn community, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2021, in Brooklyn, NY. He was 78 years old. He is survived by his sons Patrick (Erin) and James (Sophia), his grandchildren—Jessica, Alexander, and Maximilian—and his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Colton, and Delilah, sisters Dorothy and Darlene (William), longtime companion Joan Cicorio, his nieces and nephews Lori (Eric), Charlie (Lisa), Dotsy, Nicole (Jermal), Jenny and Manny.
Born in Brooklyn, and raised in South Beach Staten Island, George was a proud product of the local public school system, attending PS 46 and later McKee Vocational High School, where he developed a strong work ethic that would define his life. George earned a vocational diploma from McKee High School and a trade certificate in sheet metal. He was proficient in plumbing, electrical and carpentry which provided the foundation for a 32-year career with the NYCTA Maintenance of Way Structures Division. He worked a second job for 32-years with Manufacturer's Hanover Bank and Trust.
George was a tremendous role model and a source of strength for his two sons, Patrick and James, whom he raised with love, discipline, and care. His legacy lives on in his children, as well as in his grandchildren—Jessica, Alexander, and Maximilian—and his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Colton, and Delilah. His family will always cherish his wisdom, kindness, and the steady guidance he provided throughout his life.
A devout parishioner of the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Little Italy, NYC, George's faith was a central part of his life. His kindness and generosity extended beyond his family, and he was respected and loved by many in his community. He donated to numerous charities and had a huge heart.
George’s hobbies and passions reflected his wide-ranging interests. He was an avid NY Mets and Jets Fan. In his earlier days he enjoyed fishing, collecting Lionel trains, and had a deep interest in the transit history. George also had an appreciation for handmade cuckoo clocks. In his later years, George and his longtime companion Joan enjoyed attending Broadway shows in New York City and traveling to Cape May, NJ.
The memory of George will live on in the memories of his family, friends and all who had known him. He was a man of integrity, a loving father and grandfather. He was a tremendous power of example. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
