Giovanni Fama, 81, passed away on Jan. 15, 2017, at his Elm Park home, with his wife by his side. Giovanni was born in Cittanova, R.C., Calabria, Italy, where he did cooper's work. He came to America in 1961, and settled in Staten Island, N.Y. He continued cooper's work for Washburg Pickle Company in Bayonne, N.J. He later became a brick layer and cement mason, joining Local 780, and was self-employed with a small construction company. He is survived by his wife, Pasqualina, and his children, John Fama, Catherine Martin and Rosann Marino. The second child of six children, Giovanni was predeceased by his sisters, Palma Fama and Ida Domidi, and is survived by siblings, Rosa DeGirolami, Giuseppe Fama, and Concetta DiMarzio. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Casey Funeral Home. The Mass is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Adalbert's Church.
