Gregory J. Fox

Gregory J. Fox passed on July 24, 2026 at the age of 75, and was a resident of Staten Island, New York. Greg was born in Middletown NY to Charles Fox and Anne Fox (previously Ferretti). Greg grew up with his older brother Chuck (Charles) and younger brother Billy (William), living in Staten Island for most of his early life. Greg attended St. Joseph Hill before going to Monsignor Farrell High School. At Farrell, Greg met a group of friends who kept in touch for over 50 years. He leaves behind Tommy to carry the torch, joining Bobby, Jimmy, John, and Nicky on the other side of life’s journey. After high school, Greg attended the University of Dayton in Ohio, where he studied computers (in the 70s! He was way ahead of the curve!) before moving to Florida and eventually returning back home to Staten Island. Back in NYC, Greg joined the NYPD, worked a stint in Port Authority PD, and eventually rejoined the NYPD, where he bravely served the city over 23+ years. During his time as a police officer Greg made some more lifelong friends, and made some connections that would allow him to spoil his son in the future when his police buddies would escort them to lower level seats at Mets baseball games (spoiler alert!). In the late 80s, he met and eventually married Lisa. Together they would have a son, Brian, born in July of 1996. Over the course of their marriage, Greg truly became a part of Lisa’s family in addition to his own. Greg was also a dearly beloved uncle to a total of 8 nephews and nieces, and a father to Brian who is proud to say “Dad loved me as best he could in all the ways he knew how, and became a rock for me to lean on in my early 20s”. Additionally, Greg enjoyed his time with his granddaughter Sophia (Brian’s daughter) who he absolutely adored, and he thrived on her energy when she would come to visit each week. Greg had many other life adventures. In the mid 90s he and Lisa ran a motel in Cape Cod, Massachusetts near sister-in-law Kirsten, niece Amelia, and nephews Jonathan and Joshua. In the 2000s and 2010s he worked for FedEx in New Jersey. For fun, Greg enjoyed many rounds of golf and Mets baseball games with his son Brian, including the 2015 playoff run, as well as baseball games with nephews Matt, Terrence, and James. He also got to dance with his niece and goddaughter Leah at her brother’s wedding, despite being on oxygen support at the time. Our family has enjoyed 6 years of bonus time with him since he came home from Covid in June of 2020, and we are so grateful for all the good days and memories that we have to look back on during his life.

Visitation will be held at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310, US, on July 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and again on July 27, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1634 Victory Blvd, New York, NY 10314, US, on July 28, 2026, from 10:45 am to 11:45 am.
