Born in Manhattan, NY, NY, he was raised in Palermo, Italy.
On February 21 at 6:00 PM Dr. Guido J. Di Benedetto left this world, a great doctor and above all a great man, full of Christian values. A man who was generous, humble and always ready to help others with a great sense of the family that he loved above all things. Dr. Di Benedetto passionately dedicated his whole life to the profession of medicine and saving lives.
He earned his doctorate in medicine from the Universita Degli Studi Di Palermo in 1959.
Upon returning to the United States 1960 he started his private medical practice with Dr. Peter Timpone Sr.
Lieutenant Commander/Commander Dr. DiBenedetto served as command surgeon with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 through 1969.
He helped to found a 120-bed children’s hospital in Hoa Khauh, Vietnam.

Dr. Di Benedetto was a founder of Doctors Hospital in Concord, Staten Island and was a long time Chairman of the Board.
In 1997, Dr. Di Benedetto was named Family Physician of the Year
by the New York State Academy of Family Physicians.
As a renowned Family Physician he was honored for his community service by the Wagner College DaVinci Society in 2008.
Guido enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid tennis and soccer fan.
He leaves behind his beloved and inconsolable niece Loradana and nephews Antonio, Massimiliano and Alessandro.
