I recently found out from my sister the sad news that Mrs. Kruse had recently passed away.
Helen and John Kruse and my parents were married the same year (1950) within a week or two of each other, and often celebrated their anniversaries together. John Kruse and my dad, Warren, were close friends from their childhood years. John was my Dad’s best man and I believe Dad was his.

The Kruses came to visit with their two girls when we were all children and had a great time playing together or trying to eavesdrop on the adult conversations in the dining room. I’m sure Patty and Laura remember the time they almost got snowed in at our house.

Helen was a very lovely lady and clearly a great mom (like mine). The Kruses were one of the first people I called when my parents died and they were there at the memorial services - faithful friends as always. After the death of my parents and John, I wrote to Mrs. Kruse around the holidays and was surprised and pleased that she wrote me back! Her handwriting was firm and beautiful and she gave me family updates.

I know how much her family will miss her - she was clearly the hub of the family for many years. I’m thankful to this day for the close friendship she and her husband shared with my parents!
