

He was born in Gardner, Mass., and also lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, before moving to Todt Hill. He had divided his time between the Island and Osteen for 25 years.
Mr. Crannan earned his bachelor's degree from St. John's University and received his master's degree from Polytechnic Institute, both in Brooklyn.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of corporal. He was a member of the Huttner-Pasqualini Post, American Legion.
Mr. Crannan began working for the New York City Transit Authority as a trackman, and retired in 1985 as a vice president of labor relations.
A sports enthusiast, he loved golfing. He also had coached the Staten Island Boys' Football League in his earlier years.
Mr. Crannan enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, the former Joanna Micus, and the couple danced in exhibitions throughout the Island. He also loved to read classic novels and the poetry of William Henley.
His first wife, the former Mary Watson, died in 1982.
Surviving, along with his wife, Joanna, are his son, Donald; his daughters, Mary Dondiego, Eleanor Porto and Patricia Tuzzo; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday from the Casey Funeral Home, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, both in Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
