

Longtime Dongan Hills resident Clare (Honey) Martin, 79, a retired bank teller and an outgoing, caring women who will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family, died Thursday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
She was born Clare Killen in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, where she graduated from St. Joseph's Commercial High School.
She moved to Dongan Hills in 1965, and remained a resident of that community.
Mrs. Martin worked as a bank teller at the former Manufacturers Hanover Trust, now part of JP Morgan Chase, for 30 years, predominately in their New Dorp branch.
She enjoyed hosting outdoor parties in her backyard and loved boasting about her children and grandchildren.
She was a loyal friend and neighbor and was always involved in her community, family said.
She was an active parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills.
Her husband of 42 years, Philip, died in 1999.
She is survived by her son, James; her daughter, Kathy Bocchino; her brother, Frank (Fran) Killen, and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday, from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 11:15 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, Dongan Hills. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
