James A. Webb died on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 2, at Virginia Funeral Home, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Saint Margaret Mary's Church in Staten Island. Private cremation will follow.
Mr. Webb was born on Staten Island and lived in Brooklyn, where he grew up and graduated high school from St. John's Prep. He moved to Staten Island in 1969 with his wife, Patricia. In 1963 he became a police officer for the New York City Police Department. In 1981 he retired from the police department and worked for the U.S. Postal Service and also worked in construction.
He was a loving devoted family man and a faithful devout Catholic. He loved having his family over for parties at his home. He always lived life to the fullest and enjoyed swimming and relaxing in his yard, which he called "his paradise." He also loved bartending from his self-made handcrafted bar in his basement. He was an active man who enjoyed gardening, lifting weights, running and cooking for his entire family every holiday.
Mr. Webb was predeceased by his parents, Natalie and James, and a brother, Edward Webb.
He was the loving devoted husband to Pat for 53 years; beloved father of Kelly, Eileen, Susan, and Michelle; brother of Frank Webb; and proud grandfather of 13. He had three great-grandchildren, two nephews and three great-nephews.
