

1936, on Staten Island, New York, passed away on April 15, 2025.
She is predeceased by her parents, Walter & Geraldine Scala and
her brother Charles.
She is also predeceased by her loving husband Livingston.
They shared 39 wonderful years of marriage.
She is fondly remembered by her two surviving sons, Thomas
and John.
Janet was born in Westerleigh and moved to Castleton Corners
after her marriage in 1960.
A graduate of Port Richmond High School, in her younger years
she worked as a clerk at Kinney Shoes in Manhattan and then at
Wallerstein’s in Mariner’s Harbor.
Janet loved her family and her home and enjoyed time spent
with loved ones and friends and working on improvement projects
for the family home.
Throughout her life she was an active member of many
organizations. In her earlier years she was a member of the Staten
Island Ski Club, and later in life organizations she was a member of
included the Mother’s Guild of St. Teresa’s Church and the
Westerleigh AARP.
Her proudest achievement in organizations she served was as
the Northeast Regional President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet
Reserve in 1996 and 1997. In her role as Regional President, she
served in an honor guard to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
Janet enjoyed bowling, dining out and traveling. She saw many
parts of the US and especially enjoyed Vermont. She also fondly
remembered a trip she took to Italy.
Janet was a parishioner of St. Teresa’s R.C. Church.
Visitation will be at the Harmon Funeral Home on Monday,
April 21rst from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. The funeral mass
will be held Tuesday, April 22ndat 10:45 AM in St. Teresa’s Church.
Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
