Janina Zysk

Janina was born on June 26, 1926 to the late Alexzander and Antonia Grzejka in Poland.

She spent her teenage years forced to work on a farm in Germany during World War II until it ended and she was reunited with her family.

She married a longtime friend Eugeniusz “Eugene” 1951 and had 3 children, Krystyna, Zenon and Andrzej.

She emigrated to the United States with her daughter in 1963. Her husband and two sons joined her the following year, all settling in New Brighton.

She worked as a seamstress, and then as a housekeeping aid at Staten Island University Hospital. She retired in 1988. Her husband died in 2007.

Mrs. Zysk was a longtime parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church, New Brighton.

She enjoying the simple pleasures in life spending time with her family, gardening, watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune, and knitting.

Mrs. Zysk is survived by her children, Krystyna Browne, Zenon and his wife Cheryl, Andrzej and his wife Priscilla and her brother Henry and his wife Wiesia, 6 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
