Jason D. Karnatski, formerly of Prince’s Bay, Staten Island, NY passed at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, NJ on Sunday. Preceded in death by his first wife Jean Karnatski, ne Laurie, and his father, John Karnatski, he is survived by his wife, Victoria Karnatski, ne Luken, daughter Jenna Karnatski, stepson Dane Fioravante, mother Patricia Karnatski, sister Leah Savia and her husband Chris, sister Alison Malone and her husband Edward, nephews Zachary Malone, Tyler Malone, and niece Victoria Malone.
Jason was a Costco employee for 30 years. He was a loyal and devoted colleague and supervisor. He was also an accomplished drummer. Neil Peart of Rush and Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden were two of his early influences. He was a member of multiple bands and played everything from classic rock covers to heavy metal originals and covers.
A devoted and loving father to Jenna, he adored being an Uncle, aka “Uncle Diddy,” to his nieces and nephews, and still held most of his childhood friends near and dear. He relished family time, vacationing in Wildwood, NJ with his former in-laws for many years, including Carol and Mark Laurie, Robert and Susan Weiser, and nephews Mark and Robbie Weiser. He also enjoyed cruising with his wife Victoria and her parents, Joseph and Judy Luken. He was available to anyone and everyone who needed a handyman, plus he was an efficient and precise housepainter on the side. He loved grilling in his yard, Giants games with his brother-in-law and childhood friend, Eddie. He loved swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and had a spiritual connection with it like his father--specifically So. Seaside Park NJ, where he spent nearly every summer of his life.
Wake will be Friday, August 7th from 4-8 p.m. at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. Mass will be the next morning, Saturday 8/8 at 10 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. No burial; private cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Wounded Warriors in his name. He loved that charity, our flag, and the USA.
