

Jennie Dana (nee Tomao), 87, parishioner of St. Clare’s RC Church in Staten Island, passed away on October 24, 2024. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Jennie spent many summers in Ocean Breeze, before moving to Staten Island permanently in 1962. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Andrew F. Dana.
Jennie was the devoted mother of four daughters, Margaret Loffredo, Roseann Owens, Carol Bennett and Kristin Dana Clark-Thompson, and is survived by her sons-in-law, Richard Owens and John Thompson. She was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Robert Loffredo, Donald Bennett, and David Clark, and by six of her brothers and sisters. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Dr. Frank Tomao, her sisters-in-law, her brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was adored by her 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Jennie worked as a sales associate in the fine jewelry department at Macy’s for 25 years. She loved spending time at the beach and the Great Kills Swim Club, and her hobbies included bowling, knitting, camping, traveling, and playing games. Jennie was the beloved matriarch of her family and the magic of “Sunday dinner at Grandma’s” will be cherished forever. No words can describe the impact of her life on her friends and family. She will be sorely missed by all.

Visitation will be held at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 7 PM to 9 PM, and on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Clare Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 9:45 AM, with a committal service immediately to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
