Born on July 2, 1932, in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx, Joan
Francis Baroz was the daughter of the late Timothy and Kathleen Curtin.
She was predeceased by her brother,Timothy Curtin, and sisters Marion
Ginnane and Patricia Spoto. She is survived by her four sons, Bryan Baroz,
and wife, Ana (Corona); Michael Baroz, and wife, Patricia (Tramontana);
Thomas Baroz, and wife Lisa (Wightman); and Robert Baroz, and wife, Dianne
(Appelt); and lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Joan moved to Staten Island and was a long-time parishioner of St.
Michael’s and St. Clement’s Church in Mariners Harbor. She worked for
the NYC public schools in the administrative office at I.S. 51 and
volunteered as a softball coach at West Shore Little League. Having
worked in commission sales for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for many years at
the Staten Island Mall, she enjoyed her retirement living with her sister,
Marion, in Long Island. After returning to Staten Island, she lived her remaining
years in the loving home of Thomas and Lisa Baroz.
As a member of the Red Hat Society, she also enjoyed many Broadway shows
with friends. Joan had a charismatic smile and keen Irish wit and humor.
An avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, who was regarded as ‘mom’ by
many of the friends of her children. She was often seen behind the camera
lens capturing the many memories at all family occasions and holidays.
