

Joan Bradley, 85, a longtime Castleton Corners resident and retired switchboard operator who enjoyed traveling with her husband and being with her family, died Sunday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
Born Joan Lindstedt in Brooklyn, she went to school there and lived in her native borough until moving to Castleton Corners 63 years ago.
Mrs. Bradley first worked as a switchboard operator for New York Telephone Co., then went to work for Doctors' Hospital, Concord, as the chief switchboard operator. She retired in 1995.
She cherished her family and the time she spent with them.
Mrs. Bradley also was fond of traveling with her husband, Patrick, and a wide circle of friends, and they had journeyed to Alaska, Ireland, and France, among other destinations. A highlight of their travels was a trip to the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.
She enjoyed wintering in West Palm Springs, Fla., going to Broadway plays and visits to Atlantic City.
Mrs. Bradley was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners,
Patrick, her husband of 55 years, died in 2007.
Surviving are her son, William; her daughter, Patricia Heeke; four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a Mass at 10:30 in St. Teresa's Church. Arrangements include cremation.
