Joan Ritter

Joan Ruth Ritter, 92, peacefully departed this world to live with the Lord, her departed Mother Jean and Father John Fritz and brothers Donald and Bobby on Saturday, May 17, 2025. She was born on Staten Island and was a lifelong resident. She lived in Eltingville for 63 years with her husband Raymond H. Ritter where they raised their five children. She is survived by her husband Ray and children Pam (and her husband Frank), Tim (and his wife Liz), Patti (and her husband Brian), Kim (and her husband Nick) and Jim.

Her legacy continues through her 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with another on the way very soon. Joan and Ray were devoted to 2 rescued cats and several dogs. A long time member of Holy Child Catholic Church, Joan served on the Rosary Committee for many years, producing rosaries to send overseas. She also enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader.

A graduate of Curtis High School, Joan worked as a secretary for International Nickel Company before marriage. She later worked for Dr. Jafri as a medical receptionist at the HIP for many years.

Joan treasured every family milestone - birthdays, graduations, weddings and other celebrations. She especially enjoyed all the babies she held on her lap, in particular her great grandchildren in her later years. Her kindness, faith and devotion will be remembered by all that knew her.

Visitation will be held at Casey-McCallum Rice Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308, on May 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service is scheduled for May 20, 2025, at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 4747 Amboy Rd, New York, NY 10312, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.

The committal service will take place on May 20, 2025, at Ocean View The Cemetery Beautiful, 3315 Amboy Rd, New York, NY 10306, from 11:30 am to 11:45 am.
