Born in the Bronx, Mr. Arminas moved to Great Kills in 1965.
Mr. Arminas graduated from New Dorp High School and was a police officer for 25 years assigned to the 120th Precinct, St. George. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of the Watkins-Kellet American Legion Post, Travis.
In his leisure time, Mr. Arminas enjoyed fishing and off-track betting. He was also an avid New York Rangers and Giants fan.
He was a generous and helpful friend to all, said his son, John K. Arminas, adding, "He will be greatly missed."
In addition to his son, John, surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Mary Scurry, and two brothers, Hank and Larry.
Arrangements for a private funeral and cremation are being handled by the Casey-McCallum-Rice
