He was also a proud navy veteran.
A lifelong Staten Islander. He and his late wife Helen enjoyed traveling the world. Including ALL 50 states. He also enjoyed gardening and stamp collecting.
He raised three children: Russell Damitz his beloved son who preceded him in death; also his daughter Gerri Graboski and youngest son Mark Damitz. John was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Christopher; Jessica; Andrew, and Daniel.
He is also remembered by his son-in-law Edward Graboski, and his daughter-in-laws Colleen Damitz and Lisa Damitz.
