John R. Griffiths

John Griffiths, 72 Navy veteran and doting grandfather, of Dongan Hills John Griffiths, 72, died on Nov. 8, 2016, at SIUH after a long illness. Born on July 1, 1944, to Francis and Marie and raised in the Bronx along with his siblings, Louis (deceased) Frank, Robert, Teddy, Jean and Carol (deceased), John served honorably in the US Navy. He raised his three children, Charleen Clark, Scott Griffiths and Kimberly Griffiths, in the Midwood section of Brooklyn along with his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth. In 2002 they relocated to Dongan Hills, Staten Island, N.Y., where he enjoyed spending time in the yard, walking to local stores and doting on his three grandchildren, Luke, Michael and Lyla, and was looking forward to another grandson due later this month. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and enjoyed vacations with family to the Philippines, Maine, Lake George and Rehoboth Beach. Arrangements are by Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10310. Visiting is on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral is on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation is private.
