
John J. “Jack” Maginnis, 70 of Pompano Beach, passed away on February 21, 2012, surrounded by his family. Jack was born in New York, NY on September 4, 1941 to John Thomas and Bridget Elizabeth Maginnis. He was educated at Incarnation High School and went on to obtain his Mortuary Science Degree from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York, beginning a lifelong career in the funeral industry.
Jack relocated to upstate New York in 1975 to own and operate his own funeral homes. In 1986 he relocated to Coral Springs, Florida to raise his family, and in 1987 he began his employment in the funeral industry in Broward County.
Jack was a former owner and operator of the Baird-Case Funeral Homes from 2003 until 2009. He was a member and Past President of The Rotary Club of Ft. Lauderdale Beach, a Board Member of The Exec’s Association of Ft. Lauderdale, FFDA and St. Coleman RCC.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine of 32 years, his brother, Robert and his sister, Patricia; he is survived by his children, Jodi Wickey of Indian Trail, NC, Tara (Gregory) Stanley of Vero Beach, FL, John J. Maginnis, Jr. of Miami, FL, Shana (George) Milano of Coral Springs, FL and Kerry (Edward) Zaluski of Tamarac, FL; grandchildren, Vincent Foster, Shane Welsh, Mason Wickey, Carter Wickey, John Dillon Maginnis, Liam Stanley and Edward Zaluski III.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 25th from 4:00 until 6:00 PM and on Sunday, February 26th, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:15 PM at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 4343 North Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33308. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Coleman Catholic Church, 1200 South Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, Florida 33062. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Staten Island, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3407 NW 9th Avenue, Suite 100, Ft.
