

Loving, caring, and dedicated family patriarch
John A. "Jack" Mallen Sr., 87, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at home in West Brighton, Staten Island, N.Y.
Funeral arrangements are by the Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slossan Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10314. Viewing will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass is at Blessed Sacrament on Friday, March 11, 2016, at 10 a.m.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Mallen attended PS 104 and William E. Grady CTE High School.
He was a print shop supervisor for Cromwell & Sullivan, Esq.
He was married to Jean A. Mallen (Miller) for 51 years.
Mr. Mallen was a loving, caring and dedicated patriarch for his family. He was always there to help support his family in any way he could. He was an avid football fan. He loved the game so much that he was a Founding Father for the Knute Rockne Football League in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in 1961. He coached for 15 years and he earned the respect of the players, coaches and the community.
He loved collecting trains, taking pictures and visits to Atlantic City, N.J.
He is survived by his four children: John A. Mallen Jr., Cathleen McGuckin, Timothy A. Mallen, and Thomas A. Mallen and their spouses. He has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean A. Mallen, of 51 years and his grandson, John Patrick Mallen. He will be missed by all.
