Born in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, he attended St. Bernard’s School, but dropped out of school to support his family. John served in the US Army Air Corp form 1941 to 1946, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He worked for the US Postal Service. He was a member of St Clare’s Parish. An avid reader, who enjoyed the writings of Balducci, Koontz and Patterson. John was interested in WWI and WWII. He traveled to Europe, the Islands and many states with his wife. He was a great Dad, who loved life and his best times were with his family.
He was predeceased by this wife of 66 years, Nancy Contri Maxwell; his sisters Genevieve and Grace; and his brother Frank.
John is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ganassini and Mary Galate; his son-in-law Paul; grandchildren, Paul John, Jean Presutto, Laura Kulak and her husband Adam; great grandchildren, Isabella, Nicholas, Matthew, Madison, Gabrielle, Abigail and Charlotte.
