He joined the U.S. Marines in 1947 as a young man, where he received The Purple Heart for his service at The Chosin Reservoir, in Korea.
After returning home, he met the love of his life, married and together they raised 4 children.
He attended and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from St. John’s University in 1961. He was a Terminal Superintendent for Mobil Oil for 27 years until he retired in 1992.
He was a man who possessed a quiet strength. He was a man of his word, someone you could always count on. He was a man of character, humble and kind. He has boundless energy, running circles around us all. His zest for life and his smile was contagious.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, his daughters Patty and her husband Robert Doran, Carole and her husband John Stark, his sons John McEvoy and his wife Maria, Michael McEvoy, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
