

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Simonson moved to Eltingville in 1975. He moved to Brick, N.J., in 1983, and to Whiting, N.J., in 2005. He had lived in New Springville since 2014.
He worked for 25 years for the New York City Police Department, retiring as a sergeant from Police Headquarters, Manhattan, in 1978.
Mr. Simonson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Pacific during the Korean War.
He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and doing crossword puzzles.
Mr. Simonson was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church, New Springville.
His wife, Marion, died in 2000. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Pagliaro, Deborah Monaco and Theresa Simonson; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be Saturday from Casey Funeral Home, with a Mass at 10:45 a.m. in St. Teresa's R.C. Church, both Castleton Corners. Arrangements include cremation.
