Joseph R. Carroll

Joe was born on November 18th, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York to Sylvester and Loretta Carroll. He was predeceased by his brother, Lester, a stillborn son Kenneth and his son-in-law John Giovanniello.

Joe is survived by his five children; Mary DeClemente and her husband Richard from Tarpon Springs, Florida; Robert Carroll and his wife Joanne from Easton, PA; Laraine Giovanniello from Medford, NY; Lynn Gilbert and her husband Todd from Kerhonkson, NY; Lisa Ernst and her husband Charles from Hightstown, NJ. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Robert, Kasey, Kara, Dawn, Carla, Connor, Charlie, Jack, Tyler and Claire with all of their spouses, along with eight great-grandchildren; Christopher, Jonathan, Julie, Sean, Emma, Grant, Grace and Gerald, with one more great-grandchild, Gianluca, due in July.

In addition, Joe is survived by his four brothers, Charles Carroll, James Carroll, Thomas Carroll, John Carroll and his wife Linda. In addition to all that, Joe has dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of whom he cherished dearly.

Joe adored his family and his family adored him. His family was his pride and joy. He never missed a family party, holiday, recital, graduation, concert, play, talent show…..you name it, he was in the audience cheering us on.

Joe himself loved to sing. He sang in barbershop quarters, choirs and traveled to retirement homes entertaining residents with songs from the American classic songbook. Another favorite pastime for Joe was reading books; two or three a week!

In lieu of flowers, Joe would be honored to have any donations in his name go to the Veterans Hospital where he received extraordinary care from an outstanding and caring staff.
