

Arrangements under the direction of CaSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Joseph A. Restuccio, 80, of Castleton Corners, a retired city bus driver known for entertaining his passengers with jokes, died yesterday in Staten Island University, Ocean Breeze.
Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Staten Island in 1964 and lived in New Brighton before moving to Castleton Corners in 2001.
Mr. Restuccio served for six years during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until 1969 when he became a bus driver for the city Transit Authority. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Restuccio was known for entertaining commuters on his bus with jokes.
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mr. Restuccio also owned an antique shop on Bay Street.
He loved eating, singing, swimming, his country and collecting antiques.
Mr. Restuccio always put his children first, his family said.
“My father loved people, young and old,” said his daughter, Gina Restuccio. “He was generous to the point he would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar. He was a good man. The most cool, calm and collective man you could ever met. He never worried, and was a great philosopher.”
In addition to his daughter, Gina, surviving are a son, Dominic; another daughter, Anna; a brother, Ralph Restucci, and one grandson.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castelton Corners, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa’s R.C. Church, Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island.
