

Josephine Noonan, age 94, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn to Anthony and Martha Bruzzese, Josephine was the second of five siblings. She was a longtime resident of Staten Island, having lived there for over 60 years, even before the construction of the Verrazano Bridge.
Josephine was a devout Catholic and dedicated parishioner of St. Clare's Church for over six decades. She was deeply involved in her community, contributing her time and talents to St. Clare's Crafty Ladies and the Great Kills Swim Club.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William J Noonan, and her son William Noonan, both of whom served as New York City firefighters. She is survived by her children Teresa (Fred), Robert (Charlayne), and Anne-Marie, as well as her grandchildren Kaitlyn (Michael) and Jessica, and great-grandchildren Lucille and Courtney.
She will be remembered fondly for her kindness, compassion, and extreme wit, as well as her signature spunk and penchant for matching pant suits. Josephine touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A visitation for Josephine will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Casey-McCallum Rice Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Clare's Church. Following the service, a committal service will be held from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, located at 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island, NY 10309.
