As a retired teacher from P.S.45, I have never forgotten Joyce's kindness to me when in 2001 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was the first I called and she told me to get on my hands and knees and pray especially that I was s single mom with s 9 year old son. She helped me get a health sabbatical. She never forgotten me since I was diagnosed again in 2007. She came to visit me with books and her prayers and love. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer I sent her a card of encouragement and how much I admired her as a professional and a humsnitarium. She always had such encouraging words for NY son as she loved children so much.
We were friends on fb and she asked me to visit her. I was going to surprise her.
How do you forget such a compassionate and loving woman who always had an open ear. I am so saddened by her loss.

My sincere condolences , thoughts and prayers for the family. Joyce was my first principal when I finished college and began my career at PS45. She welcomed me with open arms and became the best mentor I could have ever asked for. She was an all around incredible human being. I feel honored to have known her and cherish the memories of working with her. She will be greatly missed. May she rest in sweet peace.
