Kevin Barry Meurer, 57, of West Brighton died on July 8, 2020. After graduating from Monsignor Farrell High School in 1981, Kevin served in the United States Navy for 4 years. Soon after, he joined the New York City Police Department where he retired as a Lieutenant in 2010.
Since his retirement, Kevin has enjoyed running his much loved West Cork Union Hall pub in West Brighton. Kevin was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the American Legion. Kevin was an avid golfer. He loved playing with the SI Senior Golf Club (formerly known as the Swamp Rats). He especially loved playing golf with his brothers, his cousins and UJ. Kevin enjoyed cruising with his family and friends. Kevin had a way about him that made anyone he spoke with feel special and more often than not laugh at his bad jokes. His personality was larger than life and that will carry all who knew him through some rainy days.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife Joanne and sons Kevin Jr. and James. He will be sorely missed by his mother Eleanor, brothers Peter, Michael, Donald, Robert and Brian and his favorite sister Peggy. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws James and Carolyn Amodeo, Lori Bueti and Chris Delamonico and the outlaws, Lenore, Laurie and Liz. Uncle Ho-Ho was much loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Harmon Funeral Home on Friday July 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, July 11 at 10 a.m. @ St. Peter’s Church
