Laurie Murphy Keller passed away on November 25, 2019 at her home in St. Louis Missouri. Laurie was predeceased
by her husband, Brian Keller in 2006. Born and raised in Grasmere, Staten Island, she was the daughter of the late Francis J and Ann Murphy.
Professor Murphy was Head of the Psychology Department at Seton Hall University, President of NYC District #31 School Board and the namesake
for P.S.39 in Arrochar. Laurie graduated from St Sylvesters School(1975), St Joseph Hill Academy (1979) and earned her B.A. and M.A.
from Seton Hall. She lived on Staten Island until 2005 when she made a work related move to Glen Allen, Virginia, and subsequently
relocated To St. Louis in 2007 , again as a result of her employment.
Laurie started her career at Prudential Bache, New York City in 1984, excelling in the financial field of Risk Management.
Prudential Bache was acquired by Wachovia in 2005 (Glen Allen), and Wells Fargo Bank acquired Wachovia in 2007 (St. Louis).
She was employed by Prudential Securities for 24 years and rose to the position of Vice President Institutional Sales Fixed Income and later on was Vice President Risk Analyst at Wachovia Securities and finally, as Risk Management Consultant at Wells Fargo.
Laurie enjoyed spending time with her extended family, especially at the Jersey Shore town of Lavallette. She grew up spending her summers there and
continued her affection for the area into adulthood. She often fondly referred to Lavalette as her "favorite place". Laurie and Brian were avid fans of the Rangers (Laurie) and Islanders (Brian) as well as the Mets and Jets. They enjoyed touring America taking in a local MLB game as well as the local historic sites.
Her hobbies included her skilled needlepoint, decorating her home and keeping up her doll collection. Laurie never forget to honor a family member on their
special occasions with a card and often a floral arrangement .
Laurie is survived by her family, brothers Francis J (Barbara) and Thomas, and her sisters Patrice (Martin Tuohy) and Monica (Thomas Todaro)
as well as her maternal aunt Jane ( Edward Milza) and her maternal uncle, and godfather James Tierney. She is also survived by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews,
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to recommend supporting the American Heart Association. Memorial Service will be held on Monday December 16, 2019 from 2-4 &7-9pm at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave Staten Island, NY.. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday December 17, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Sylvester's Church. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery.
