Today we honor the extraordinary life of our beloved WWII veteran, who peacefully passed away at the age of 100.
A proud United States Army soldier, he served with Company F, Fifth Platoon, and the Heavy Weapons Platoon during World War II. He fought courageously in the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns, helping secure freedom during some of the war's fiercest battles. Wounded in combat, he was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice and the Combat Infantryman Badge for his bravery under enemy fire.
Following his military service, he built a life defined by hard work and dedication as a retired Teamster. He was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment, qualities that carried over from his military service into his civilian life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He was a cherished father, grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather.
To family and friends, he was affectionately known as "MacGyver" because he could fix just about anything. Whether repairing something broken or finding a creative solution to a problem, he was happiest with tools in his hands and a project to tackle. His resourcefulness, generosity, and willingness to help others became hallmarks of the life he lived.
A century of life gave him the opportunity to leave an enduring legacy of courage, humility, perseverance, and love. He served his country with honor, worked hard to provide for his family, and enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, soldier. Your duty is done, your watch has ended, and now you are reunited with your beloved Elizabeth. Your courage, sacrifice, and love will never be forgotten.
