Carpenter and tireless volunteer was the grandfather of three.
Lawrence passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2019.
He was born July 29, 1940, to Mario Layus and Phyllis Layus.
He attended Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School. He was happily married to Karen Layus, who passed away April 20, 2007.
Larry worked as a carpenter for Sol-R-Veil, installing drapes and shades. He was a prominent member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society, where he would tirelessly volunteer his time helping others.
In his early years, he was a member of Stapleton Athletic Club, working with youths playing baseball. One of his favorite hobbies was playing pool with his friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Doug and Mark, and his three grandchildren, Nicolas, Joseph, and Jennifer.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 9 p.m., followed by a funeral on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Harmon Funeral Home.
