Mrs. Poyntz was born and raised in Manhattan. After graduating from Washington Irving high school, she became a bank teller where she met her husband, Michael J. Poyntz. Shortly after marrying, the two relocated to Staten Island and began growing their family.
Mrs. Poyntz was a full-time mom and later became a medical office assistant. She also served as a Girl Scout troop leader, member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a Eucharistic minister at St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church.
Mrs. Poyntz dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, stained-glass and listening to bagpipes and Irish music.
She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Michael J. Poyntz.
She is survived by her beloved family; two sons, Michael and Gerald; a daughter, Sharon; daughter-in-law, Mercedes; and three grandchildren, Megan Lee, Michael James and Riley Rose. She is also survived by seven nephews and five nieces. Visiting Hours are on Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm From the Harmon Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton, with a mass Saturday at 10am in St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church, Concord. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
