Born and raised in Manhattan's Greenwich Village, he graduated from Haaren High School in his native borough.
Mr. Musanti served in the Army National Guard in the early 1940s, stationed stateside.
As a young man, he played baseball and hockey in leagues throughout New York City.
After he and Genevieve de Tranaltes wed in 1947, the couple moved to the Upper West Side and lived there until 1955, when they moved to Castleton Corners.
Mr. Musanti had a 36-year career with the Securities and Bond Division of the former Manufacturers Hanover Bank in Manhattan, retiring in 1986 as an assistant vice president. Prior to that, he worked in many brokerage houses on Wall Street.
He excelled in photography and painting in oils, an avocation he pursued until his death, family said.
Mr. Musanti was very, very generous and a loyal and committed family man, going to all of the events in which his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved.
"He had the heart of an artist," said his son, Lawrence. "He also was the kind of man you want to be like, and we hope that the years we've spent with him have schooled us to follow the example he set."
Mr. Musanti was a parishioner of St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners, where he served as an usher for 53 years and was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Christ the King Council, Knights of Columbus.
Genevieve, his wife of 32 years, died in 1979.
Surviving, along with his son, Lawrence, are his sons, James, Louis A. and Joseph; his daughter, Patricia Musanti; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
