Born in Badolato, Calabria, Italy, he moved to Staten Island in 1959. He lived in Oakwood and Rosebank before settling in Eltingville 32 years ago.
Mr. Papaleo worked in construction and as a land surveyor for Ben DeVino for 10 years.
He enjoyed sailing, fishing, and hunting. He loved swimming and visiting the Dominican Republic two to three times a year.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Scintilla Ermocida, and his daughter, Francesca Rozelle.
The funeral will be tomorrow from the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Clare’s R.C. Church, both Great Kills. Burial will follow in Ocean View Cemetery, Oakwood.
