Born in Manhattan, she later settled in New Dorp.
Mrs. O’Brien was a registered nurse and spent several years working at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. She also worked for a home health care nursing service.
Mrs. O’Brien served as president of the Women’s Club of Great Kills. She loved spending time with her family, and especially adored her grandchildren.
Her husband, Henry, died in 1987. Her daughter, Kathleen Bolognese, died in 2006.
Surviving are three sons, James Anderson, Joseph Anderson and Michael Anderson, and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a mass at 12:15 p.m. in St. Clare’s R.C. Church, Great Kills. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
