

Native Staten Islander, beloved mother and grandmother
Lucy Mallano passed away peacefully on April 8, 2020 at the age of 93.
She was a resident of Eger Nursing Home for the past 8 years. A native Staten Islander she was born on December 8, 1926 to Vicenzo and Mary Frazzetto.
Lucy attended Curtis high school and went on to work at Knox Millinery Factory in Manhattan where she met the love of her life, Peter Mallano. On June 27, 1948 they married and settled in Castleton Corners then moved to Willowbrook in 1961. They were happily married for 55 years until his passing in 2003. After raising her daughters she went on to work as a sales assistant in Young Set, a children’s clothing store on Forest Avenue, where she enjoyed selling christening and communion outfits to her loyal customers. She retired in 1986. She will be remembered for her great homemade pizza, large family gatherings on Christmas and July 4th barbecues.
A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong parishsioner of St Rita’s RC Church in Meiers Corners.
Lucy is survived by her devoted children Mariann Ferrari, Patricia Coriasco and her husband Richard, cherished grandchildren Richard Jr. and Nina Coriasco. She was predeceased by her sister Rose Ventura and brothers Sam and Phillip Fazzetto.
Her family also includes many loving nieces and nephews.
Her daughter Mariann shared,” although she was a petite, quiet woman, she was strong willed and always said what was on her mind. My sister and I were blessed to have such a wonderful, caring mom. She was proud of her family, and especially treasured her grandchildren.
Our family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff at Eger Nursing Home and specifically to the 6th floor nurses and aides who were her special angels.
A private viewing will be held on April 24 at 9:30 a.m. at Casey Funeral Home with burial immediately following at Moravian Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
