Luigi S. Scala, 66, a beloved son, brother, and uncle died peacefully on Friday in his home in Eltingville.
Born in Venezuela, he immigrated to the United States in 1974 with his parents and two younger siblings.
Luigi Scala was a trilingual Senior Security Clerk in the World Trade Center from 1991 until the Towers’ collapse in 2001. Later he became a seasoned Security Officer for Mulligan Security until his retirement after serving the company for 12 years.
He enjoyed camping, watching Nascar, using his telescope on the beach and being a cheese enthusiast. Luigi most loved spending time with his loved ones.
Surviving are his brother Rosario Scala; sister Josephine Scala-Giurdanella; and 5 nieces, Samantha Krasny; Giovanna Pallarino; Alexandra Gordon; Veronica Giurdanella; and Rebecca Giurdanella, all whom he loved as his own children.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, with a mass at 11:00 am in St. Clare’s RC Church, both in Great Kills. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains.
