Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister, Manuela Barbedo passed away peacefully on December 21st. Manuela was born in Portugal on May 8, 1928. Manuela, her husband Sampson and their 2 ½-year-old daughter, Isabel, emigrated to Staten Island in 1960.
Manuela worked in her parents’ (Manuela and Frank Santana) neighborhood Candy Store. She and her husband Sampson took over ownership of the store and operated it through 1990.
Manuela enjoyed trips back to Portugal to visit with family and friends there. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, and taking trips down to Atlantic City.
Manuela was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sampson, her Sister Maria and Brother-In-Law Michael. She is survived by her daughter Isabel Valentine (John) and granddaughter Danielle Valentine Napoli (Niel).
On Wednesday December 27th there will be a 10:30am Mass at Sacred Heart Church followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery immediately following.
