Margaret M. Casey

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for the life she led that we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret M. Casey on May 17, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by love. Peggy, as she was lovingly known, was born on August 19, 1932, in Staten Island, New York, to the late John and Eva Casey. She was 93 years old.

Peggy is survived by a large and loving family who will continue to cherish her memory: her niece, Kathleen Lynch and husband Timothy; grand-nephew TJ Lynch, his wife Brittany, and their children Logan and Luke; and grand-niece Kaitlyn Lynch and her fiancée Joshua Friedel. She also leaves behind her nephew Michael Hazard, his wife Elise, grand-nephew Shaun Hazard, his wife Jessica, and their children Brayden, Ryan, and Hayley, along with grand-niece Megan Hazard. Her niece, Karen Scimeca, and husband Michael, along with their sons Michael R. Scimeca and his wife Jenna, Robert A. Scimeca, and Nicholas M. Scimeca, will also hold her memory close.

Peggy was predeceased by her beloved parents, John and Eva Casey, and her sister Patricia and her husband Robert Hazard, with whom she is now reunited. Peggy's life was marked by a steadfast commitment to caring for others, which she exemplified through her impressive career in nursing. After earning her Registered Nursing degree from St. Francis College and subsequently her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she dedicated over 40 years to the field, retiring as the Assistant Director at the Bayley Seton/St. Vincent's Hospital Group. Her career began at the US Public Health Hospital in St. George, Staten Island, where she left an indelible mark through her professionalism and compassion.

A devout Catholic, Peggy was an active and cherished member of the St. Patrick's Parish in Richmond town, Staten Island, where her faith was a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. Her warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and her strict work ethic was balanced by her gentle words and generous spirit.

Beyond her professional life, Peggy was passionate about spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Her adventurous spirit took her across the United States, Canada, and Europe, where she explored new cultures and landscapes with a sense of wonder and appreciation.

A service to celebrate Peggy's remarkable life will be held on May 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Casey McCallum-Rice Funeral Home, located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308.
