Margaret was born on December 30, 1947, to Anna and John Lewandowski in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She graduated from CUNY Hunter College and was an elementary school teacher in Queens with the NYC Board of Education for 31 years.
She married Joseph Craine, also from Greenpoint, in 1971 and they were married for over 50 years. Margaret and Joseph lived for a brief time in Queens, where they had their first daughter, Susan, in 1974. The family moved to Great Kills, Staten Island in 1979 and had a second daughter, Amy, in 1981.
Margaret deeply loved flowers and was an avid gardener before and in her retirement. She adored her two grandsons and looked for any opportunity to make lemon chicken or chicken soup for them. She also had a deep love of all baked goods from Holtermann's bakery, which thankfully was just a 5-minute drive from her home.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Joseph, her daughters Susan and Amy, her sister JoAnn Ridolfo, her son-in-law, Robert Tauscher, and her two grandsons, Robert and Ethan Tauscher. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
