Margaret "Peggy" Cowley Durkin of Manchester Township passed away peacefully on February 14th, 2025 at Brighton Gardens, Middletown. Born on Staten Island in 1939, Margaret was the beloved and doting daughter of James and Mary Cowley. She attended St Peters Girls High School and then Notre Dame College on Staten Island.
Peggy went to work in Manhattan, a long and distinguished career at Scudder, Stevens and Park and retired from New York Community Trust.
She loved to travel with friends and her favorite hobby was crochet. She was a devoted caregiver who never missed Saturday night mass at Blessed Sacrament with her mother. She loved her family and was a second mom to her niece and nephew after his sister Maureen passed.
At age 50, she married the love of her life, Edward Durkin and a new chapter began starting with a honeymoon in Hawaii. The two were the life of the party and Peggy remained the family storyteller and historian, connecting everyone with her proud recollections of family events.
She is survived by her step son, Richard Durkin, nephew James Murray and her niece Donna Pflug.
