

A lifelong Staten Islander, she was born and raised Margaret Nichetta in Sunnyside. After she and Anthony Massa wed in 1966, the couple lived in Todt Hill. She returned to her native community in 2011.
Mrs. Massa graduated from Curtis High School.
Prior to becoming a homemaker, she worked as a buyer for a Manhattan department store.
She attended St. Nicholas Chapel, Sunnyside, which her mother was instrumental in starting, and St. Teresa's R.C. Church, Castleton Corners.
Mrs. Massa was fond of traveling, and she and her husband especially enjoyed visiting theirtime share in St. Maarten with their grandchildren.
"My mother-in-law was a wonderful woman who treated me as if I were her own daughter," said her daughter-in-law, Lisa Massa. "She will be missed so much."
Anthony, Mrs. Massa's husband of 43 years, died in 1999.
Surviving are her son, Joseph; her brother, James Nichetta, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners, with a mass at 10:15 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
