

Margaret L. (Peggy) Winsch, 86, of Westerleigh, a retired bank teller who was active in her church and loved traveling with her husband, died Sunday in Golden Gate Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Meiers Corners.
The lifelong Staten Islander lived in Westerleigh until 2004, when she entered the nursing facility.
A graduate of Port Richmond High School, Mrs. Winsch first worked as a teller at the former Westerleigh Savings & Loan. She retired in 1961, after 15 years as an administrator on the platform.
She enjoyed bowling in a league, knitting, completing jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards, especially solitaire. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her husband, Herbert. In addition, she loved to read the Staten Island Advance.
She was especially close to her nieces and nephews. They fondly remember her spoiling them with special presents, outings to Manhattan and with unconditional love.
Mrs. Winsch was an active member of Immanuel Union Church, Westerleigh, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a member of the Westerlites, and served as a trustee and church treasurer.
Herbert, her husband of 39 years, died in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Winsch.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
