Beloved mother of eight, worshipped daily at St. Clare's Church
Marguerite Moog, a longtime resident of Great Kills, Staten Island, N.Y., died at home on Monday, June 17, 2019. Born on the 4th of July, 1926, she was raised in the Clason Point section of the Bronx and was a native summer resident of Tottenville Beach. A graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan, Marguerite met her husband, William J. Moog, at a post-war dance at Barnard Hall in Tottenville. The couple was married at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Feb. 26, 1949.
Bill and Marguerite lived in Concord as newlyweds and in 1956 had their home built in Great Kills, where they raised their eight children.
Marguerite was a catechist for over 25 years at St. Clare's RC Church, where she attended daily Mass. She enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, and her July 4th backyard birthday barbecue for her family. Marguerite and Bill vacationed with their children in Vermont, D.C., Disney World and the Jersey Shore. Marguerite enjoyed shopping, Scrabble, and reading histories and novels.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William J. Moog; her sister, Loretta Treval, and her brother, John Beers. She is survived by her brother, James Beers, and her children, William P. (Rita), Chirstopher, Marguerite (John), David (Jean), Matthew (Roseann), Thomas (Millette), Emily, and Carol, as well as 13 grandchildren, John, Paul, Maria, Philip, Theresa, Cecilia, Berenice, Joseph, Matthew, Annamaria, Maddalena, Anthony, and Bernadette.
The wake will be at Casey McCallum Rice Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare's Church on Friday, June 21, at 9:45 a.m. Interment will take place in the Cemetery of the Resurrecton.
