

Maria Simone-Colella passed away peacefully at her home in Staten Island on November 18, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on December 18, 1960, Maria's life was marked by love, her resilience and unwavering spirit, despite battling multiple sclerosis.
Maria graduated from Bishop Kearney High School and furthered her education at Long Island University's Brooklyn campus and the Bartone School of Radiology. Throughout her life, Maria was a beacon of strength and optimism, often reminding those around her, "It could have been worse!" despite her 40-year battle with MS.
Her greatest joys were her family and her faith. Maria was a devoted member of the Church of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus. Maria's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with comfort and a sense of community throughout her life. Her belief in God was profound, often noting that He was always there to listen.
Maria's home was filled with the aroma of her passionate cooking, a hobby she cherished along with various other activities that brought joy and happiness to her and her loved ones. Her kitchen was a place of love, laughter, a gathering place for family and friends, and the creation of many cherished family memories.
Maria's legacy of love and courage is carried on by her family. She cherished her roles as a loving wife to Antonio and a proud mother to her son Michael, who along with his fiancé Michelle, will carry forward her legacy of kindness. Maria is also survived by her parents, Pasquale and Josepina; and numerous nieces, her nephew, and cousins who will miss her deeply. Her life was also touched by her late sister, Emma Simone-Daidone, and brother, Frank Simone, who preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Maria's memory, honoring her courageous battle with the disease and her commitment to helping others facing similar challenges.

A visitation for Maria will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A religious ceremony will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1634 Victory Blvd, New York, NY 10314.
A committal service will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 from 11:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, New York, NY 10306.
