Born on July 22, 1937 to the late Frances and Everett Petit. Marianne grew up in Stapleton with her siblings Linda (husband Arthur Heer) and David (wife Lorraine).
It was in the P.S.14 school yard that she would meet the love of her life, Daniel DiToro. They married on February 14, 1959, and have stood shoulder-to-shoulder since then. They raised their children Daniel, Carolyn and Douglas in Eltingville, in a loving, nurturing home, with Marianne forever dedicated to her family.
She is survived by her husband and children, along with her son-in-law Dominic and daughters-in-law Dorothy and Lucy. Marianne most treasured her grandchildren Dominic, Alyssa and husband Phil, Natalie, Aidan, Carina and Neave. She is now reunited with her grandson Dominic. Marianne’s newest joy is her great grandson Dominic Philip.
She adored her nieces and nephews dearly, treasured her friends and was thankful for the simple blessings.
She loved our family vacations to Cape May each summer and her daily trips to Starbucks.
Her go-to quote was “Carpe Diem” to which we would always roll our eyes; but she knew what she was talking about. Life is a gift, not a given, and she lived her life truly appreciating the little things.
We will forever hold her close.
